Celebrating the Contributions of Nettie Pardue, founding Program Director

nettie_staff_photoWHEREAS, Nettie Pardue served as the instructor and facilitator of the first ever program conducted by The Outward Bound Center for Peacebuilding, breathing life into the vision of an Outward Bound expedition that could transform the relationships between Palestinians and Israelis, and sparking a new venture for the Outward Bound community; and

WHEREAS, Nettie served as the Center’s founding Program Director for five years, developing, delivering, and overseeing a collection of expeditions, retreats, trainings, and events that have helped bring together a global community of compassionate leaders; and

WHEREAS, Nettie has, through her exuberance and deep human connections, enlivened and invigorated that community with laughter, understanding, passion, and an unrelenting desire to act in the face of adversity, and has extended herself not only as a senior member of the Center’s staff, but as a colleague, a leader, and a friend; and

WHEREAS, Nettie’s vast experiences as an instructor, guide, facilitator, mediator, and all-around over-achiever have helped underpin the growth of an idea, now known as Experiential Peacebuilding, and her empathic worldview and moral compass have guided the Center’s vision and work; and

WHEREAS, Nettie has contributed to every aspect of the Center’s growth, and she now looks to embark on new adventures and challenges, while remaining a friend, advisor, and collaborator; and

WHEREAS, Ana Patel, Kristine Hizon, Flavio Bollag, and the Board of Directors wish to recognize and celebrate Nettie Pardue, without whom none of Outward Bound Peacebuilding’s impact or momentum would be possible.
