Practicum on Experiential Peacebuilding – Applications Now Open!

Dates: January 2 – 11, 2015 (arrival on Jan. 1st)
Location: Piedras Blancas, Costa Rica Participants will fly into San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO)
Tuition: $1900 USD* for the ten-day expedition (airfare NOT included)

Join an extraordinary journey in the Costa Rican cloud forest that integrates conflict resolution and leadership training in a unique multicultural outdoor experience. Using proven experiential learning techniques, the Practicum on Experiential Peacebuilding (PEP) is an opportunity for working professionals and students to get out of the office/classroom and take their skills to the next level.

Course Objectives:

  • – Learn, practice, and apply conflict resolution and peacebuilding skills in an experiential context.
  • – Experience the environment as a capacity for peace through 10 days of living and hiking in the Costa Rican cloud forest.
  • – Receive certification in experiential peacebuilding through a joint program with the United Nations-mandated University of Peace.
  • – Engage with other emerging leaders from around the world and become part of a network of agents for change.

 *Outward Bound Peacebuilding has a limited amount of funding to cover the course fees for promising international candidates who 1) reside outside the United States, Canada, and Europe and 2) are actively working in the field of peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and/or experiential learning.
