In the evening of Wednesday, October 2nd, OB Peacebuilding will be hosting a film screening of One Day After Peace in New York City. The film follows the story of Robi Damelin, a Jewish Israeli mother, whose son David was killed by a Palestinian sniper’s bullet in the West Bank. As part of her grieving process, Robi returns to South Africa, the country where she was born, to learn from that country’s experience in reconciliation, forgiveness and peacebuilding. Here is the trailer:
Robi Damelin and her working partner, Bassam Aramin, will join the event on October 2nd as honored guests and speakers. Robi and Bassam are leaders of The Parents Circle Families Forum, a joint Palestinian-Israeli organization of over 600 families who have lost a loved one as a result of the prolonged conflict.
The host of the evening is Outward Bound Peacebuilding, an international nonprofit that uses catalytic wilderness expeditions to inspire leaders in divided societies to build peace together. In 2014, Outward Bound Peacebuilding will lead a peace learning expedition to South Africa for participants of our Palestinian – Israeli Emerging Leaders Program.
